WHEN: 40 days. Friday, July 22 through Monday, September 5, Labor Day. No racing on Tuesdays.
MAIN TRACK: 1 1/8-mile oval with seven-furlong chute; 4 percent banking on the turns; distance from final turn to the finish line is 1,144 feet.
The main oval is made up of dirt, clay and sandy loam with a limestone base. That composition makes it one of the fastest tracks in the country.
TURF COURSES: The Mellon (Outer) Turf Course is a one-mile (plus 98 feet) oval; 4 percent banking on the turns; distance from final turn to the finish line is 1,144 feet.
The Inner Turf Course is a seven-furlong (plus 304 feet) oval; 4 percent banking on the turns; distance from final turn to finish is 1,164 feet
GUARANTEED WAGERS: The New York Racing Association, Inc. This will be the third consecutive year that NYRA has offered a $500,000 guarantee on the Saturday Late Pick 4, a 50 cent minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winners of four consecutive races. By guaranteeing the wager, NYRA will supplement the net difference if the total pool is less than $500,000.
In lieu of the regular Pick 4 guarantee, on Travers Day, Saturday, August 27, NYRA will offer a $1 Million Guaranteed All-Graded Stakes Late Pick 4 featuring the Grade 1 Travers and the Grade 1 King’s Bishop.

FINAL PACE QUALIFIER
If the qualifying horse is offered at near post time
odds that are:
HIGHER than Our True Odds on The Reports
AND
Those near post time odds are 4-1 or higher
This makes a 'SUPER PACE KEY HORSE'!!
Now that you have your 'SUPER PACE KEY HORSE' qualifier choose your method of wager.
We suggest the WIN/PLACE BET:
- WIN/PLACE BET STRATEGY:
Bet the SUPER PACE KEY HORSE
6 units to WIN
and
8 units to PLACE.
This is a very conservative approach but very powerful in building your bankroll.
Depending on your bankroll a UNIT can be $1, $2 or any dollar amount.
Many or most of you
will use the UNIT as $1.
- EXACTA STRATEGY:
The horse that qualifies as a SUPER PACE KEY HORSE (We will call him 'Q') can be used
with the report's Top Pick on the reports (We will call him 'T').
Note: In the event that the Top Pick is
the SUPER PACE KEY HORSE then T = 2nd Pick on the reports.
In the exacta key:
Q,T with picks 1 though 7 (Group A & Group B) for 2 units.
( Q,T / 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 )
In many cases both the Q and T horses will be part of the 7 horses (Group A & B).
Also BOX the Q / T for 4 units.
- TRIFECTA STRATEGY:
The horse that qualifies as a SUPER KEY PACE HORSE (We will call him 'Q') can be used
with the report's Top Pick on the reports (We will call him 'T') as follows:
Note: In the event that the Top Pick is
the SUPER PACE KEY HORSE then T = 2nd Pick on the reports.
In the
trifecta part wheel Q,T 1st & 2nd with picks 1 though 7 (Group A & B) for 1 unit or 2 units as follows
Q,T with Q,T with picks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
( Q,T / Q,T / 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 )
AND
Q,T with picks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with Q,T
( Q,T / 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 / Q,T )
In many races both the Q and T horse will be 2 of those
7 horses.
- SUPERFECTA STRATEGY:
The horse that qualifies as a SUPER KEY PACE HORSE (We will call him 'Q') can be used
with the report's Top Pick on the reports (We will call him 'T') as follows:
In the
superfecta part wheel Q,T 1st & 2nd with picks 1 though 7 and ALL for 4th for 1 unit or 2 units as follows
Q,T with Q,T with picks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with ALL
( Q,T / Q,T /1,2,3,4,5,6,7 / ALL)
AND
Q,T with picks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 with Q,T with ALL
( Q,T / 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 / Q,T / ALL)
In many races both the Q and T horse will be 2 of those
7 horses.
Always remember the basic money management rule. Never bet more than 1% to 2% of your total bankroll on
any one race.
It is suggested that you have
a separate bankroll for win bets and another just for exotics.
