This new type of sire information definitely gives you an advantage when
playing these tracks: Arlington Park, Del Mar, Keeneland,
Turfway, Woodbine, Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Golden Gate and Presque Isle Downs.
Here are 3 questions for you to ponder:
- Is pedigree an important consideration in the outcome of races run on the turf?
- What about races run on a wet track (sloppy, muddy, etc)?
- Should this type of pedigree information be used in the handicapping process
for races run on these surfaces?
The answer to the aforementioned 3 questions is unequivocally YES. You most likely already know
how important pedigree information is in those situations.
- Some horses have the pedigree to run over the turf better than others.
- Some horses have the pedigree to run over a wet track better than others.
- And now - Some horse have the pedigree to run over the all-weather track surface better than others.

And Del Mar Are Run On All-Weather Tracks
The age of technology has brought us a new consideration for our handicapping reserve.
It is widely believed and proven that all-weather racing surfaces yield many
benefits which include:
- Safety for the racehorse. Because of the all-weather track 'cushion' and 'give'.
This makes it much easier on their back and legs.
- Safer for the jockeys because of a reduced fall rate and less jolting.
- Uniformity of natural maintenance under various weather conditions.
- More efficient for the track crew to maintain.
- Reduced kickback and dust.
- And many more benefits.
With this being known, more and more racetracks will be installing a brand of all-weather surface.
As of this writing there are currently 9 racetracks in North America that already have
an all-weather track surface installed.
World Class Racing At Arlington Park, Hollywood Park,
Santa Anita And Woodbine Are Run On All-Weather Tracks
We have compiled a "Full Card Reports All-Weather Track Sires List" of the current top sires for all-weather
("synthetic", "polytrack", etc) racetracks.
It has been established that certain sires have the best
pedigree and a higher success rate to get winners on the turf or a wet track. There is now a new group
of sires that have a proven successful trait for all-weather tracks!
The special Full Card Reports study began 1 1/2 years ago and analyzes all races run on all-weather tracks
in North America. As you might have guessed we keep a record of each winner's sire on all-weather tracks.
Not only is each all-weather track
race winner's sire recorded to our database but also the sire of the 2nd place finisher!
Our all-weather track sire ratings are comprised of a proprietary blend of statistics and
criteria. Many different factors are used including:
- Class
- Consistency
- Potential
Whenever a horse is racing on an all-weather track and has a sire
that is a part of the "Full Card Reports All-Weather Track Sires List" it will get this icon
 on our reports. And on the Diamond
report the horse will also get this comment:
"This horse has excellent proven pedigree for all-weather tracks".
If a horse has a
sire that is extra successful (22% of our successful all-weather track sires are considered "top echelon") on all-weather tracks he gets this icon
